Working With Video and Mobile Apps – Flash Builder 4.6/4.7

Every app developer is eyeballing the massive opportunity for presenting video through mobile apps, but with all of the the pitfalls….things can get tricky REAL FAST!

From getting the right frame rate and video dimensions, to scaling video for 1000’s of devices, to choosing the right video streaming service….one thing is for sure:  Get it all right..and you’ll be the emperor of the world! The app world that is.

Follow along in my New Video Tutorial series, where I’ll show you the ins and outs of piping video to your Flash Builder 4.6/4.7 apps….and how to make it all work.

In this series for beginners, I’ll take you through the basic steps of setting up your project, create both an Actionscript 3.0 version and an MXML version through FLEX 4.6/4.7, and then debug your app.  In an advanced series, I’ll take you through the process of building a custom skin (player), setting the stage for multiple screen resolutions, setting orientation for both landscape and portrait viewing, configuring your video streaming server, and then finish with building a paywall/subscription service so you can make money with your video apps.

Folks, this is going to be a blast, and I’ll have the sign-up form ready to take new students on SwitcHHat.com soon!

Stay tuned,

Richard, thanks for your interest in that series involving Flash Builder 4.6/4.7….and it’s application to mobile video. I intended to have the remaining videos up within a short time, but then got pulled into highly elaborate projects that simply soaked every moment of my time. Needless to say, I haven’t had a chance to post those videos. However, I may be able to help you individually….for your specific application? Please contact me via: craig@switchhat.com, and I can assist you. Cheers!
